Lara on brink

This article is more than 18 years old

Brian Lara was 11 runs short of Allan Border's record Test tally of 11,174 at stumps yesterday after hitting an unbeaten 202 as West Indies reached 352 for seven against Australia at the Adelaide Oval. "I've been working pretty hard without much success but I knew it was just around the corner," he said. "We're not going to be playing Test cricket for three months so I was ready and looking forward to this particular Test match after not succeeding in the others."
